Water softening in the biggest house in Canada

The owners of this 55,000 square foot home built on the Bridle Path in Toronto wanted to have all the water in the home (including to both swimming pools) treated with a commercial water softener. Because water use is often continuous throughout the night, the application required two water softeners plumbed in parallel - this way, when one softener is regenerating, the other is able to handle the full load. The installation includes:

• 2 x 240,000 grain water softeners with Fleck 9000 control heads

12 bay 24 hour spotless car wash

A competitor of this car wash had just opened down the street and the owners needed to distinguish themselves from the newcomer. They decided to offer a "spotless" wash. Because there are two water mains (one into each wing), they required two water softening systems. And because the car wash is open 24 hours, these systems had to be twins (only one side shown in the picture - other is 6 ft. to the left) to allow for continuous soft water (while 1 system regenerates, the other takes up the load). The installation includes:

4 x 150,000 grain water softeners with Fleck control heads

Reduction of iron for a commercial water bottling plant

The project was a commercial bottling plant in Huntsville, Ontario. Although the hardness numbers were quite low, there was iron in the water that was precipitating in the final product. Watermart installed a commercial iron filtration system that incorporates the following:

• air injection
• contact tank with off-gas vent valve
• 2 x 12" x 54" Birm backwashing commercial iron filters with Fleck 7000 SXT control heads

Organic foods cafeteria - high quality cooking and drinking water

A naturopathic college in Toronto, Ontario was opening a new all-organic cafeteria and needed reverse osmosis water for all food preparation. They also wanted a filling station so students could fill their water bottles throughout the day. Watermart installed a commercial reverse osmosis system that met all the Colleges' needs.

The system incorporates the following:

• 2 x 1 cubic foot granular coconut carbon backwashing filters for chlorine and other organics reduction
• 2500 GPD commercial reverse osmosis system with adjustable recycle and concentrate pressures
• 300 gallon polyethylene storage tank with automatic recirculation through an extruded carbon block and ultraviolet system
• Stainless re-pressurization pump with 14 gallon diaphragm tank
• 20x4" extruded carbon post filter
• 12 GPM NSF Certified Ultraviolet System

Reduction of TOC for milk carton sterilization

The project was to install a system in Weston, Ontario that would produce water free of TOC and all dissolved minerals to dilute a food grade disinfectant at a precise ratio. This sanitizer is then sprayed through aerosol nozzles into milk containers prior to filling. Watermart installed a commercial reverse osmosis system & deionization system that incorporates the following:

• 20" 5.0 micron prefilter
• 20" extruded carbon prefilter
• 1500 GPD commercial reverse osmosis system
• 50 gallon polyethylene storage tank
• 20" extruded carbon post filter
• 20" mixed bed deionization filter

Water store water treatment plant and bottle wash station

In order to take up as little space as possible, this project required the installation of a complete commercial reverse osmosis system and prefiltration to be mounted on the wall and hung from the ceiling. Water is treated overhead while bottles are washed with a commercial grade washer and filled underneath. The installation includes the following:

• 20"x4.5" 5.0 micron sediment filter
• 20"x4.5" extruded carbon filter
• Pressure gauges to assess change-out frequency
• 2500 GPD commercial reverse osmosis system
• 500 gallon storage tank with recirculation through carbon & ultraviolet
• Re-pressurization system including 14 gallon diaphragm tank and stainless pump
• Post extruded carbon filtration
• Totalizing meter to measure the water dispensed
• 9 GPM NSF certified ultraviolet system
• Complete installation of wash station including drains & purified water to nozzles

This commercial reverse osmosis system is an example of many water systems that Watermart did not install - but maintains. It had been installed years earlier in a shop that dispenses water. But the company that installed it was unable to maintain it properly. Watermart was called in to service this system. The service included the following:

• Change of 2 x 4"x40" commercial reverse osmosis membranes
• Repair and clean of ultraviolet system and replacement of the quartz sleeve and bulb
• Re-bedding of all multimedia filters
• Adjustment of backwash & brine intervals and durations
• Adjustment of all pressures
• Complete disinfection of the system
